Interview with Jaclyn and Kim

Jaclyn on her hair:
I think sometimes when I look back at my style, I wish I had been a little more daring. Oddly enough, the producers [of Charlie’s Angels] did not want us to change our hair. At the end to the fifth season, I wore my hair naturally curly and it was free. It was fun, it was - I wasn’t a slave to wrapping -- I have curly hair -- wrapping my hair, putting it in rollers and, you know, making it so slick. So I would’ve liked to have had a little more freedom with my hair. I mean, it might not look like I’ve changed it that much but I have. I mean, it was very long. It was virgin hair, a few streaks going in it later. I could’ve spiced it up a little more.

Jaclyn on how her hair shaped her career:
I always loved long hair. I was a ballerina and I was always putting it in a bun, so I loved hair. I never wanted to cut my hair and mom wanted me to have a ducktail and that was a big disappointment so I cut it into a ducktail at one point. But I loved long hair and hair that was shiny and good condition, so…hair was important to me. And look, it got me my first acting job - Breck. A producer saw me on a Breck commercial and gave me McCloud.

I think hair makes or breaks you more than anything, more than makeup, more than what you wear. If your hair is right and, you know, other things aren’t, you can shine.

Jaclyn on letting a contestant work on her hair:
Well I would let them work on my hair. They’re excellent…they’re all extremely talented.

Kim on what makes a good hairstyle:
You know, I really prefer beautiful hair, obviously -- sexy, beautiful hair -- and I think that it looks too contrived…if you’ve taken too much time on it. Then it is something of a negative. I think it needs to look free and loose and shiny. I think the condition of the hair is very important, also as the style.

What I’m excited about this show is…it definitely is going to give you the language of hair to be able to explain that to a stylist. And…it’s definitely an evolution of learning actually how to talk to a hairdresser also which is an amazing part of the show.

Jaclyn on Dancing with the Stars and how she keeps in shape:
I was a ballerina but I do have two torn meniscus in my knees. I studied with the School of American Ballet and I just don’t know if I can devote the time that it would take. I love dance. I love watching Dancing with the Stars.

Today I do Pilates…I do some aerobics and I’m going to start yoga. My daughter was just certified in yoga and she wants me to do it with her. So that’s how I think I should keep in shape now and stay out of Dancing with the Stars.

Kim on Celebrity clients:
I think with celebrities that it’s all about the persona and the look and everything…it’s like being with them on MSG. It’s really…intense.

I’d never blame the celebrity. I only blame the stylist when I see really bad stuff because…the poor celebrity goes through this kind of - you know, whatever the stylist does sometimes it’s not the best choice. But I think I work mainly with moms, nurses, daughters, and I work with a lot of celebrities. But the - most of - the bulk of my business is, you know, great people. And I think that’s what I’m used to.
